Cortijo House 2

Casa Cortijo 2 is a project located in Jardines del Cortijo, a new neighborhood under development in the city of Florida. Our clients, who are currently living abroad, contacted us to carry out this project, which had to include housing and a barbecue.
On a plot of land between party walls, of 301 m2, we sought to carry out a functional project, with a total square footage of 158 m2. The challenge in this case was to be able to achieve a project with adequate functionality for the interior and with the greatest possible use of the patio, so we chose to generate the floor plan of the house with an L-shaped typology. With this volume attached to the party wall and organizing the spaces almost entirely with a north orientation, it allows a good use of sunlight during the day, during the winter.
In turn, the house is organized into two well-differentiated sectors, in front, the social area leaving the more private area towards the back. Within the social area, an independent, closed passage was created for direct access to the patio and barbecue, without having to go through the house.
Without any prior requirements regarding the design of the façade, this allowed us to explore and project something totally different from the usual. A façade with an unconventional shape in which the decision was made to use a wooden covering, which gives it warmth.
