Immersed in a large green and natural space, on the outskirts of Florida, is located “El Remanso”, a single-family home where the renovation work was carried out.
The requested order was the renovation of the kitchen, this environment with a strong imprint for its users, was in need of change.
The kitchen is connected to the rest of the house to a first adjacent space that also modified its purpose to enjoy this connection in a more friendly way. Initially it was a dining room and the owners of the house turned it into a warm living room.
The kitchen opens onto the garden through large openings achieving greater natural lighting and visual connection with the environment.
But the great protagonist and greatest challenge was the choice of flooring. For this it was decided to use marble, and thus match the floor of the social area. The chosen marble floor is made up of recycled pieces, extracted from an old mansion in Montevideo. The black pieces are a Belgian marble from 1890 and the white ones are a Carrara marble from 1900.
The final result; a Remanso renovation and extension with a functional, welcoming kitchen, with a mixed aesthetic that combines antique and contemporary materials.
